Several members of Barka Canada board attended the Surrey LIP info session calling on members of immigrant communities and service groups to get involved in creating a strategic plan to assist newcomers to Canada in adjusting and adapting to their new Canadian life. This is an opportunity to contribute the Barka model and our cultural and social service expertise and to network with other organizations to create a cohesive plan of service provision under the LIP program. After a 20-minute informative presentation attendees were interviewed to determine their suitability for the Immigrant Advisory Roundtable that would advise the LIP Committee. We hope to have someone from our group on the Roundtable soon.
