Networking at Surrey Central Library

On October 6, 2015 Barka Canada initiated a meeting which was held at Surrey Central Library. The meeting was attended by Polish professionals who work at a variety of Social Service Agencies.

Attendees introduced themselves and their organizations. Discussions included the current immigrant situation as well as the most common issues immigrants face. Barka Canada introduced current programs and future plans and strategies. There was discussion about the potential integration of social service providers in cases of immigrants from East and Central Europe who are either not eligible for assistance or who do not have enough English language skills to benefit from already available help.

Great Meet-up with Polish-Americans

On September 15, 2015 Barka Canada representative Wally Placewicz had an exciting meeting with Beata DeSantis and Joanna Maruszewska, founders of the Polish School of the Desert, in Palm Desert, California. The School is for children with at least one Polish parent and the curriculum will include language instruction and cultural education.

Ms. DeSantis and Ms. Maruszewska both expressed interest in founding Barka USA organization based in Palm Springs. Further steps in this process will be announced shortly.

Polish Festival in North Vancouver

Barka Canada representatives attended the annual Polish Festival in Lynn Valley Village in North Vancouver, BC held on September 6, 2015. The annual event hosted by the North Shore Polish Association Belweder was an opportunity to celebrate Polish culture as represented by local Polish-Canadian organizations and clubs. Visitors were entertained with traditional dancing and music and delicious traditional food was served.

Meeting at Surrey City Center Library

Barka Canada representatives met today with Surrey City Center Library Manager Ilona Stachura. The Library provides access to information, encourages literacy and supports lifelong learning, information and ideas. Continue reading

Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of the Netherlands appreciates Barka’s support given to Romanian citizens

The Romanian embassy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, brought its gratitude to Stichting Barka NL for the support offered to the Romanian citizens who do not cope with the challenges of  their migration  to the Netherlands. Continue reading
